An English early 18th century oak wedding bench from 1724. Bench is constructive of close grained English Oak and has the typical mortise and pegged tenon construction of this period. The crest rail has simple but elegant carvings flanking the initials "IH" and "SH", in which themselves flank the date "1724". The back has four raised paneled sections. The arms are shaped and are attached to front legs that are of turned and blocked style. The seat cushion is held up by rope that is woven and attached to the frame. There are some restorations, but the overall condition is excellent and very sound. The bench measures 73 ½" long by 41 ½" high by 27" deep. The price is $4,800.00
